Black spruce or black spruce or black spruce is a common conifer in the northeastern United States and especially in Canada. The color “black” refers to the color of the trunk. The tree was revered by the North American Indians for its medicinal properties. In Quebec, gum was said to have powerful antiscorbutic properties.
