Description
A royal plant in Antiquity, it became a witchcraft plant in the Middle Ages. The Egyptians used it during mummifications for its antibacterial properties. In India, it is sacred. Cultivated in Asia and the islands of the Indian Ocean, it grows extremely fast and its scent is reminiscent of tarragon. The subtlety of its fragrance earned it the nickname “little king” by the Greeks. The traditional Indonesian custom is to drink the water from the boiled leaves to reduce gas. The essential oil of tropical basil is invigorating and stimulating .
