Description
It belongs to the same family as the cajeput and the niaouli. Sailors in Captain Cook’s day used the leaves as a tea substitute, hence its name tea tree. During World War II, Australian authorities distributed tea tree essential oil to fight infections. Australians traditionally prepare herbal teas from the infusion of the leaves for their antibacterial properties. Its cleansing and purifying properties are renowned for being exceptional.
