Pistacia lentiscus
Its nickname of tree with putty comes from the name of the resin called putty which exudes from the trunk of its bark when it is incised. In Antiquity, the gum obtained with mastic was chewed and can be considered as the ancestor of chewing gum. It is named “Pistachio” because the seed resembles that of the pistachio but in smaller.
