Originally from India, it belongs to the Lauraceae family, like cinnamon trees. The camphor tree is the emblematic tree of the city of Hiroshima, the first, with another tree, the Ginkgo biloba. In Madagascar, it is called ravintsara. The essential oil of camphor leaf obtained from the leaves of the Asian camphor tree and that obtained from the distillation of the leaves of the Madagascar camphor tree have different properties. The essential oil of Asian camphor tree offers regenerating , calming and cleansing properties .
